Heavy carpenter’s vises, in general, can be a real alternative to the front vise of a traditional workbench and, due to reasons of flexibility, they have become indispensable in many workshops. All it takes is a stable work surface where the vise is mounted exactly where needed. Unlike a pre-built workbench, this offers significant advantages, such as easy and quick installation.

As the next evolutionary step, a swiveling pressure plate has been added to the quick-adjustment feature, which is especially useful when dealing with frequently changing material thicknesses. This plate reliably clamps even tapered workpieces.

If necessary, the included protective jaws can be replaced with self-made ones. Especially if the movable clamping jaw is to accommodate bench dogs, it is advisable to use significantly stronger materials for mounting.

The extremely strong U-profile is not only a central component of this unique carpenter’s vise but also covers the accurately crafted trapezoidal thread spindle, protecting it from dust, plane shavings, and sawdust. The massive vise handle is equipped with O-rings to dampen the impact at the end position. The high weight also leaves no doubt about its solidity.

The semi-matte to matte dark blue color, tending towards anthracite, is pleasing to the eye. It is incomparable to high-gloss paint in shock colors!

Function Quick Adjustment:
As with other similar constructions, the vise handle must be turned counterclockwise to activate the mechanism. After about two turns, the movable jaw can be pulled out as needed. To fix the workpiece to be processed, the jaw is pushed towards it. By turning the vise handle clockwise, the workpiece is finally clamped securely.

To protect the mechanics from premature wear, the rule here is: Do not tighten as hard as possible, but only as hard as necessary! Specifically: If the workpiece does not move under stress, it is sufficiently fixed.

Increasing Clamping Capacity:
To achieve greater clamping capacity, the swivel plate is detachable. To do this, simply remove the pin with the retaining ring on the front. Then lift the clamping plate slightly, making the hole for the pin in the locking bolt, which resembles a round bench dog, visible. The pin can then be conveniently removed with a screwdriver or another suitable tool. Assembly is correspondingly straightforward, with care taken to ensure the hole faces ‘forward.’ The pin then finds its way after raising or lowering and turning the swivel plate.
